The Guildhall School works in close partnership with key organisations within the arts industries including the Barbican Centre, London Symphony, BBC Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras, Cheek by Jowl, the Royal College of Art, City of London Festival, Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Service, Music Leader, London Contemporary Dance, the Takacs Quartet and Kungsbacka Piano Trio. With the developing synergy between the School and the Barbican Centre under a single campus it is able to deliver high quality artistic events, research, continuing professional development opportunities, and consultancy.
The Queen's Anniversary Prize 2007 has been awarded to the Guildhall School in recognition of its outstanding achievements and work of the Opera Programme over the last two decades. Over the past 18 years the Guildhall Opera programme has been developed by the Head of Opera, Clive Timms, and has been described as the most comprehensive and professionally orientated in the UK.
The award-winning Connect programme has been active in local, national and international contexts both in terms of outreach work and in researching contemporary collaborative music-making and cross-arts work.
The publication of 'The Reflective Conservatoire', a collection of research undertaken by practitioners in the School, alongside an international conference of the same name (2006), has also demonstrated the School's innovative approach to its role within arts practice and Higher Education.
