About City University

City University London has developed over the past 100 years into an innovative, forward-looking centre of excellence whose School of Arts has an expanding focus on the study and development of the arts, media, education and cultural enterprise. It benefits from extensive links with leaders of these professions in London, the UK and across the world, and in turn helps shape thinking and practice at many levels.

The hub for cultural and creative enterprise and knowledge exchange in the University is the School of Arts.  The School's three departments: Journalism; Music and Culture, Languages and Translation have a strong culture of working with commercial and not-for-profit organisations who wish to benefit from our expertise, research and teaching.  Its extensive range of MA programmes in Cultural Policy, Museum and Gallery Management, Journalism, Broadcasting, Creative Writing and Music are highly regarded by the sector.

The University and the School benefit from extensive links with those working in the arts, media and cultural sectors in England and abroad, and in turn helps shape thinking and practice at many levels in these professions. City validates programmes for the Guildhall School of Music, Arts Educational Schools, Nordoff-Robins Music Therapy Centre, Trinity Laban, and Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. It has built up a national reputation in leading innovative teaching and action research programmes concerned with entrepreneurs and freelance professionals working in the new economy, particularly those in the growing arts and cultural sector in London.
